Georgia Tech did a study to learn whether a 30 minute walk or a 30
minute yoga stretching program was more effective for over all fitness and stress
reduction. Yoga stretches were found to be the most efficient, effective
way to be pain free and healthy.

of injuries, and improve balance, strength, focus, and concentration.

Yoga is popular as a way to reduce
stress. The stereotype of who does yoga has really changed a lot.
Ian Mitroff, a professor of
business policy at the University of Southern California, said part of the
popularity of meditation and yoga may be their link to a deeper desire for
spirituality. "Yoga and meditation are not just for stress relief.
They have a spiritual aspect. People spend the majority of their waking
hours working. They're looking for meaning and purpose," he said.
Abramson says he can tell the
difference between people who meditate and those who do not. "They
seem brighter, and fresher. The old model was you work until you drop. Our
physiologies are not designed to operate at stressful levels."
Practicing Yoga is beneficial for one’s body, mind and spirit.
