Georgia Tech did a study to learn whether a
30 minute walk or a 30 minute yoga stretching program was more effective
for over all fitness and stress reduction. Yoga stretches were found to be
the most efficient, effective way to be pain free and healthy.
Thousands of research studies have shown that simple yoga
stretches can help control blood pressure, reduce anxiety, help arthritis,
increase flexibility thus diminishing occurrence of injuries, and improve
balance, strength, focus, and concentration.
People who consistently
stretch and breathe mindfully, find their disposition improves and notice it
becomes easier to let go of tension. They also notice their
posture improves and low back pain disappears. Stretching with mindful breathing boosts
energy, vitality, and helps with concentration and problem solving skills.

Yoga, Meditation Seen As Health Care Boon
Yoga
is popular as a way to reduce stress. The stereotype of who does yoga has
really changed a lot.
Ian
Mitroff, a professor of business policy at the University of Southern
California, said part of the popularity of meditation and yoga may be their
link to a deeper desire for spirituality. "Yoga and meditation are not just
for stress relief. They have a spiritual aspect. People spend the majority
of their waking hours working. They're looking for meaning and purpose," he
said.
Abramson
says he can tell the difference between people who meditate and those who do
not. "They seem brighter, and fresher. The old model was you work until you
drop. Our physiologies are not designed to operate at stressful levels."
Practicing Yoga is beneficial for one’s body, mind and spirit.
